Beauty and Seoul - Behind the Scenes of a Personal Branding Session
Those of you that know me know I love to tell stories through my photography. Wedding days tell wonderful stories, but I’ve also found a way to use stories to help businesses connect with their clients too.
Maree Kinder is an award-winning entrepreneur listed as 35 under 35 Women in Business by Management Today. She is the Founder of Beauty & Seoul, an online store curating top trending South Korean skincare brands to Europe.
I met Maree when I was shooting headshots in the city last Summer, and we got on very well. So when she got in touch and said she’d like to update her headshots and create some images going behind the scenes of Beauty and Seoul, I knew we were going to have lots of fun!
During our pre-shoot consultation, we discussed exactly what was needed in terms of where the images were going to be used; the website, social media platforms, and for the upcoming launch of the Beauty and Seoul YouTube Channel. We discussed what Maree would like to feature, and upcoming products for the Spring. And one of the key reasons for the shoot, showing Maree as founder and the face of the brand, allowing followers to identify with the brand in an organic way. We decided on the important aspects to shoot, and noted colours and styles to help enhance the portraits, and created a detailed shootplan to make the most of our time together.
I’m often asked if there are certain times of year which suit sessions best, but it is always a good time for shoot. As you can see, early December made for some beautiful seasonal portraits outside, and seasonal content helps stay relevant to followers and clients.
Once we had finished the product and office portraits, we then headed outside, and the winter sun meant we could include some environmental portraits with the gorgeous little Daschund Kimchi.
This is what Maree had to say about our time together:
"Cannot thank Rachel enough for my photos! Running a blog and business, I needed some photos for marketing materials, website, social etc. My husband had used Rachel for his headshots which looked great so suggested I got in touch. From the first phone call, it was as if Rachel knew exactly what I was after (she had worked with other bloggers before and knew the lifestyle photos I was after). Her attention to detail is amazing. She wanted to know about our brand colours, style, etc and all the photos completely represent that. Furthermore I was quite nervous about the whole thing and not comfortable with posing in front of the camera! But Rachel made me feel totally relaxed and gave such great suggestions on shots (such as mirror shots, casual ones etc). Cannot recommend her highly enough and will be back for more photos in the Spring time!"
